[PROMOTION] 40,000 Best Western Bonus Points (expired)

There is currently a 40,000 sign up bonus and the highlights of the credit card are as follows:

    • No annual fee
    • Earn 20,000 sign up bonus points after your first purchase
    • Earn 20,000 additional bonus points when you spend $1,000 on the first 90 days
    • Earn 50 points for every cash advance transaction over $50
    • Earn 1.5 point for every $1 on all purchases
    • Receive a 1 tier elite status upgrade within the Best Western Rewards program when you spend $6,000 on your card within 1 year

The 20,000 bonus points is a one-time offer for new MBNA MasterCard credit cardholders, or existing MBNA MasterCard credit cardholders who qualify for an additional account.

I have heard stories of people trying to churn this credit card and have done it successfully, but the wording seems to indicate that we cannot qualify for another sign up bonus. I already have this credit card and I do not plan to churn it. If you do not have this credit card yet, then I would recommend it.

There does not seem to be a date on when the additional 20,000 bonus points will expire. However, you will need to sign up for the credit card from a specific link, because on the MBNA page, it still says only 20,000 sign up bonus only.

Having separate links is a very common practice. American Express commonly has separate links for different sign up bonuses for the exact same card. I know a lot of people who ended up signing up for the lower sign up bonus when they could have gotten a higher bonus instead. So read carefully before you sign up. Another recommendation I have is that you can always phone in to confirm the links if you have any doubts.

Comments to MBNA and Best Western: Overall, this is a great credit card. Having no annual fees make this credit card so easy to recommend to people. The only suggestion I have is to increase the points to spend ratio when we making purchases at Best Western hotels. I prefer that the credit card earns 3 points per $1 spent at Best Western Hotels.

A perk that I really appreciate from the credit card is the elite status upgrade for spending $6,000 a year on the credit card. That is a great perk because it encourages cardholders to retain the credit card so I hope this stays on or improves further.

Otherwise, I am a big fan of Best Western hotels because the hotels are very affordable even if paid in cash and the points never expire. I hope to see continued improvements to the company.
