$25 Loblaw Gift Card
The controversial $25 Loblaw gift card has finally arrived in the mail for me. The expiry can found at the back of the card. It is September 2028 for mine. Note that the card needs to be activated.
I say controversial because even though it seems like they are honouring the $25 gift card, some feels that this is a “gimmick” that shifts attention away from the real scandal. Others may argue that all companies fix prices at some point in time, but not all companies are willing to offer compensation.
Personally, this is how I see it. Loblaw timed the gift card in alignment with the launch of their new PC Optimum program (merger between PC Plus and Shoppers Optimum). They will need all the good publicity possible for a smooth launch. Bottom line is that they did not have to price-fix, but they also did not have to give out the $25 gift card.
To be fair, I received the card without much hassle. If anyone is unhappy with Loblaw, there is always the option of shopping at other grocery stores instead!
Very kind ,thank you
Matthew, I’m curious about the fine print when activating. This gift card is raising a lot of interest as Loblaws is attempting to limit damages from any class action suits by stating that the gift card is is part of the compensation (not really a “gift” when you look at it that way). Kindly post any details that may catch your eye in this regard if you see it fit.
Good point Christopher. Will do!
The one that caught my eye is the expiry policy. I thought that there shouldn’t be an expiry…
Either way I plan to use the card well before 2028.
I just tried to validate the card. Internet validation didn’t work. Telephone validation didn’t work. Multiple tries but the info on my card is not valid according to them.
If telephone validation did not work. They should send you a new card and they can easily cancel your current card.
Personally, I already used up my $25, so it worked out for me.
I was able to activate it online today.
Awesome! Glad it worked!
