2018 IHG Award Rate Changes
IHG Rewards is one of my favourite hotel chains. I feel that they offer decent value, especially during their Pointsbreak promotions where you can redeem 5,000 points for any of the hotel rooms on the list. I have personally taken advantage of these offers many times.
Unfortunately, it has been slim pickings for Canadians trying to earn IHG Rewards since the discontinuation of the amazing Capital One co-branded credit cards.
Anyway, going into 2018, IHG is changing the number of points required to redeem for a free hotel night at almost 700 different hotels (full list), of which 34 Canadian hotels are affected.
Hotels Increasing
There are 20 Canadian hotels that are INCREASING in the number of points required for a reward night. So if you had a reward redemption in mind, you will want to book it before January 16, 2018, when this comes into effect.
