Air Canada Altitude Members Can Gift Their Status

You have probably read about different airlines and hotel chains extending their elite statuses. Now it is Air Canada’s turn. They are not only offering an elite status extension, but also the ability to gift your status to a family or friend.

You can read about this is greater detail on the Aeroplan website. Below is a simplified version of the initiatives.

2019 Elite Status Extension

The 2019 Altitude status that you qualified for in 2020 will automatically be extended through to the end of 2021. This means that you will have more than 2 full years of the same status.

If you qualify for a higher status in 2020, you will get the higher status through 2021.

Share Altitude Status

This is a big one (assuming we can fly again soon!). Whatever Altitude status achieved in 2020, can be gifted to a family or friend member before the end of 2020 that will run through 2021.

Conclusion

Having the ability to share status this year would be a big deal. I just hope that we can start flying again soon so that we can start building up our status!
