Air Canada Expands Partnership with Air Mauritius
Air Canada has expanded its partnership with Air Mauritius that started back in December 2021. The biggest change is the ability to earn Aeroplan points (on top of redeeming) when flying with Air Mauritius.
Note that Air Mauritius is not a Star Alliance member, but an Air Canada two-way partnership.
Earn Miles
Back in December 2021, Aeroplan members were only able to redeem points when flying on an Air Mauritius operated flight. Effective March 14, 2022, Aeroplan members can now also earn points on all Air Mauritius operated flights. Points are earned based on distance flown as shown in the chart below.
Class of Service Flown | Eligible MK booking classes | Aeroplan points (% of miles flown) |
Business Class | J, D, C, R, I | 125% |
Economy Class | Y, K | 100% |
H, T | 75% | |
U, V, S, L | 50% | |
Q, M, O, X, G, B, E, N | 25% |
However, keep in mind that points and segments earned do not count towards Air Canada elite status.
Also, since this is a two-way partnership, Air Mauritius’ Kestrelflyer members can also earn and redeem miles with Air Canada operated flights.

Thoughts
Air Canada has really stepped up in a big way globally. The Air Canada product itself might still be lacking compared to other airlines around the world, but the Aeroplan loyalty team can definitely go toe-to-toe with any other frequent flyer program out there.
Hope to continue to see Air Canada expand their reach internationally.
