The current Air Canada flight attendant strike reminded me how valuable airline alliances are. As people are scrambling to rebook their flights with Air Canada, the Star Alliance partnerships make it a little easier to help with this challenge. So I thought this post was due for an update.

There are 3 major worldwide airline alliances, as well as 3 regional alliances that we will mention further down the post. Below is is a list of all the previous posts that we have written if you are curious what the alliances looked like back in the day:

Below is a list of member airlines for each alliance. The changes from last time are specified with notes in brackets or struck-through (if no longer a member). There were quite a few changes throughout the three major airline alliances this time around relatively speaking.

Regional Airline Alliances

Two regional airline alliances disbanded. There is only one left. It was a long shot, but I was hoping that one of these alliances would take off and compete, even so slightly with the major three. There is only one alliance left, here’s hoping that they make some big moves!
