Top Credit Card Higher than Normal Sign Up Bonuses for September 2018

Quite a few cards came off the list from last month (e.g. TD, RBC), so it is currently very slim pickings. I was hoping that we would see some momentum this fall as we close out the year strong. Hopefully things will pick up next month.

For today, I am listing the credit cards that are offering a higher than normal sign up bonus. I ranked the credit cards by the price of the annual fees (lowest to highest):

• BMO SPC Air Miles MasterCard – no annual fee, earn 500 sign up bonus Air Miles after the first purchase (if you sign up before October 31, 2018). Normally 200 sign up bonus.

• BMO Air Miles MasterCard – no annual fee, earn 500 sign up bonus Air Miles after the first purchase (if you sign up before October 31, 2018). Normally 200 sign up bonus.

• BMO Rewards MasterCard – no annual fee, earn 20,000 sign up bonus points (if you sign up before October 31, 2018). Earn 10,000 after the first purchase and another 10,000 after spending $1,000 in the first 3 months. Normally 10,000 sign up bonus.

• Scotiabank More Rewards Visa Card – no annual fee, earn 15,000 sign up bonus More Reward points after making the first purchase within 90 days (if you apply before October 31, 2018). Normally 5,000 sign up bonus.

• CIBC Aventura Visa Card for Business – $120 annual fee (first year fee waived if you apply before October 31, 2018); earn 30,000 sign up bonus points (if you apply before October 31, 2018). Earn 20,000 after the first purchase and another 10,000 after spending $1,000 in the first 3 monthly cycles. Normally 20,000 points.

• HSBC World Elite MasterCard – $149 annual fee (first year fee waived if you apply before October 1, 2018) (excluding Quebec residents). Earn 30,000 sign up bonus points (earn 20,000 upon approval and 10,000 after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days) (if you apply before October 4, 2018). Earn 60,000 sign up bonus points (earn 20,000 upon approval and 40,000 after keeping the account open for 90 days in good standing) (Quebec residents only) (if you apply before October 4, 2018).

• Scotiabank Platinum American Express Card – $399 annual fee, $99 annual fee for an authorized user and earn 30,000 sign up bonus points after making a purchase in the first 2 months (if you apply before October 31, 2018). Uncertain what their normal offer is as they have extended this offer for years.

• CIBC Aerogold Visa Infinite Privilege Card – $399 annual fee, $99 annual fee for an authorized user and earn 50,000 sign up bonus Aeroplan miles (if you apply before October 31, 2018). Earn 25,000 Aeroplan miles after the first purchase and earn additional 25,000 Aeroplan miles after spending $1,000 after the first 3 months. Normally 25,000 sign up bonus.
