HI Matthew…seems like you have an error in the Infinite Privilege listing. The “◾Earn 3.75 Aeroplan miles for every $1 spent at CIBC Bonus Rewards establishment” applies to the CIBC Infinite Privilege Aerogold, not the TD Infinite Privilege Aeroplan.
Keep up the great work though…love reading the site on a daily basis.
Thanks for spotting that. Fixed!
How do you feel about the $399 ? For 50k pts, does the math suggest it’s still a smart move to get it ? The extra 5k costing you 99$ doesn’t seem like a bargain, unless I am misunderstanding…
Yes, so this is how I would do the math. The 50,000 Aeroplan for $399, is 1.6 cents a piece for 50,000 miles is $800 in value. So 5,000 miles is only worth $80, so it doesn’t cover the $99 fee, but if you were planning on getting a supplementary card anyway, now is a great time to do it. That being said, there is additional value to having the card, like the lounge passes and 50% discount on the companion ticket. So it depends on how you leverage the benefits and features. I would probably pick the TD Aeroplan Infinite Visa as the first choice if you are only applying for 1 TD Aeroplan card.
The Privilege Card requires a household income of 200k$ and my Infinite was cancelled only a few months ago.
(1) Is it worth it to try for the Platinum ?
(2) Why would TD offer both the Platinum and Infinite ?
I think that if you can take advantage of all the perks of the Platinum card, then it can be worth it. Platinum and Infinite offer somewhat different features and benefits.
