Air Canada Adds Oman Air and Air Mauritius as Partners
Effective today, Air Canada has added both Oman Air and Air Mauritius as new airline partners. Note that these partnerships are specifically with Air Canada, and they are not an addition to the Star Alliance program.
Flight Booking
Flights will be priced based on Aeroplan’s pricing for partner airlines. Aeroplan members will be able to book Oman Air and Air Mauritius flights through Air Canada, as well as being able to combine with flights operated by Air Canada and other international airline partners.
Note that the partner booking fee will apply for flight rewards which include travel on Oman Air or Air Mauritius.
Below are some more details specific to their respective relationships with Air Canada.
Oman Air
Oman Air is the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman which operates in the Mid-East, Europe, the Indian Sub-Continent, South Asia and Africa.
In terms of its partnership with Air Canada, below the Aeroplan accrual chart for flights operated by Oman Air only:
Aeroplan members will be able to earn Aeroplan points based on distance flown on all scheduled flights operated by Oman Air, but the points will not count towards qualifying for Aeroplan Elite Status.
While Aeroplan members can redeem their points for reward flights in First, Business, and Economy classes.
Air Mauritius
Air Mauritius is the national carrier of the Republic of Mauritius, which operates in Africa, Asia and Europe. For the moment, Aeroplan Members will only be able to redeem for Air Mauritius flights Business and Economy classes.
The ability to accrual Aeroplan points is planned to be launched sometime in 2022.
Thoughts
Air Canada has taken a very aggressive approach to the market in the past 2 years, with 47 overall code-share partners. The addition of Oman Air and Air Mauritius marks the 9th and 10th new airlines to join team up since June 2020.
