[AIRLINE] Air Canada Rouge in Vancouver and Calgary
Air Canada Rouge is the discount airline branch of Air Canada, which launched back in July 2013 out of Toronto and Montreal. Now, they will be flying out of Vancouver and Calgary sometime in spring 2014. The airline is even going on a hiring spree for flight attendants in the based out of the Vancouver area to cover this expansion.
Air Canada Rouge currently flies to Europe, Mexico, as well as the United States and Caribbean. This low-cost carrier was launched to compete against Transat, Sunwing and WestJet Airlines.
Having more low cost fares in the market can only benefit consumers. This new program will benefit customers if other airlines are able to stay afloat and compete. However, if other airlines fold or go bankrupt because they cannot compete, then down goes the competition.
Hopefully all airlines will continue to improve their models to remain competitive. As consumers, we can do our part and reward the airline that we believe provides what we are looking for, in terms of whatever factor is most important to us, customer service, price, etc. Always remember to shop around to see what works for you.
