[AIRLINE] US Airways Dividend Miles and American Airlines AAdvantage Combining

It has been in the works for well over a year now that the US Airways Dividend Miles and American Airlines AAdvantage accounts will be combined into AAdvantage accounts only on March 28, 2015. You should have been asked over the past few months to provide your AAdvantage number (if you already have one) when you log into your Dividend Miles account so that the transfer can be made more smoothly. Otherwise, a new AAdvantage account will be created for you after the transfer.

For those of you who are US Airways Chairman’s Preferred Members, I suggest that you redeem any upgrades that you have accumulated in your account before the transfer as those upgrade certificates will be invalid after the transfer.

I expect to see a lot of glitches along the way, as this is not an easy process to transfer 30 million Dividend Miles accounts, so I would monitor your accounts closely during the process. You may also want to be patient during the process as it may take a few days. So if you have any imminent reward flights that you want to book, you may want to do it now, before chaos hits.

I am more interested in seeing how this affects the number of American Airline/U.S. Airways flights that go through Canada. Now that they are combined with U.S. Airways, I hope to see more diversify in the number of available flights.
