To opt in to the Extended Warranty coverage, generally, you will need to charge the full amount of the item to your credit card in order have your purchases insured against theft, loss, or damage. This will apply anywhere in the world, and extremely beneficial while you are travelling. As you can see for some of the credit cards mentioned above, extended warranty will fall into place when you charge your card, extending the manufacturer’s warranty for one additional year (or more).
The National Bank World Elite MasterCard actually extends the manufacturer’s warranty by two additional years, which means if you are planning to make a large purchase, you can be guaranteed that your item will have protection for at least three years. This would be great on home appliances and electronics such as laptop computers and tablets.
You can see that having a credit card can bring you many benefits. I didn’t mention too much about Purchase Protection, but for the majority of travel credit cards, just by using your credit card you will have Purchase Protection coverage which guarantees that you are not at loss when your item gets stolen or damaged generally within 90 days of purchase. Most travel credit cards (as you can see above) generally have a good Extended Warranty coverage. This is great also when you’re travelling because you never know what will happen while travelling in a foreign location; at least we can be ensured that our assets are being protected and enjoy ourselves a little more!
I was googling for a summary of Canadian CC extended warranties and came across this entry of yours. Thanks again! Do you mind updating this one with current offerings.
Thanks for the suggestion. Agreed, this is due for an update. Will look into it later on.
