VIA Rail (VIA Preference)

You probably received an email a few days ago from VIA Rail with a few upcoming changes that will take effect on December 5, 2019.

Below are some of the notable changes.

I was waiting to see what VIA Rail is going to offer this summer. Looks like the sale is out!Note that the discounts are offered between May 22 and June 2, 2019, but the travel period varies depending on the promotion.I would pay close attention to the $15 kids summer offer!

I have mentioned this many times throughout my blog that travelling by train is my favourite mode of transportation. The two mains are because it feels the most comfortable and most eco-friendly option.

Before owning a car, travelling by train was my primary mode of transportation within the Windsor-Quebec City corridor with VIA Rail, which I enjoyed very much.

It has been over 2 years since my last VIA Preference update, so I was due.

It has been a while since I last wrote about VIA Rail. As a VIA Preference member, you can be targeted for special offers. Below are two offers that I was targeted with.

As you may already know, I am a big fan of trains and it is by far my favourite way to travel. Especially in Canada! Unfortunately, there is limited news that I can write about in Canada as VIA Rail has a fairly stable product and rarely do they shake things up, aside from last year’s Unlimited Pass for only $150 that sold out in less than a day. 

Every Tuesday, VIA Rail offers its weekly discounts. The extend of the discounts vary from week to week. This week, we see one of the better deals. If your travel is extremely flexible, it is usually worthwhile to wait for these deals to come out before booking a trip.

VIA Rail’s popular Canada 150 Youth Pass was temporarily unavailable for almost 20 hours before being back up again. And then it is listed as sold out??

VIA Rail is offering an unlimited travel pass for $150 for the entire month of July, 2017 for any travel across the country. This is an unbelievable deal. Let’s recap, $150 for unlimited train travel across the VIA Rail network!
