Current American Express Aeroplan Promotions and Changes
Aeroplan and American Express have teamed up to offer 4 co-branded charged cards. They do not offer any credit cards cards, no any business version of the cards. Below is a list of changes and sign up bonus Aeroplan promotions to look out for.
American Express AeroplanPlus Reserve Card
The sign up bonus has increased to 60,000 (normally 50,000) until March 31, 2016, when you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months. This may not be a significant sign up bonus, but it does help alleviate the $899 annual fee. When you see credit cards with such high annual fees, I would definitely recommend waiting for such sign up bonus offers.
American Express AeroplanPlus Platinum Card
The sign up bonus has increased to 50,000 (normally 40,000) until March 31, 2016, when you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months. This may not be a significant sign up bonus, but it does help alleviate the $499 annual fee.
American Express AeroplanPlus Gold Card
The sign up bonus has decreased from 25,000 to 15,000, when you spend $500 in the first 3 months. When to this credit card, you will now earn 16,000 sign up bonus, instead of the previous 26,000. Keep in mind that the referral bonus has been discontinued since January 11, 2016.
Though it may seem like a major hit, it does put this credit card in line with the similar co-branded Aeroplan CIBC and TD versions.
American Express AeroplanPlus Card
There are no changes to look out for. They continue to offer the first year fee of $60 waived and continue to be the only American Express co-branded Aeroplan card to have this offer.
The Aeroplan Gold used to be one of the best churn card with FYF, now with the miles decrease and no FYF, I am not sure if I want to get it. By the way it was nice to finally meet you and Viola at the conference last week.
It was a pleasure to meet you as well! Hope to see you at the next one!
