Getting Started in the Miles and Points World
Some of the most frequent questions that I get from readers or people that I meet in person are:
- How do I get in on the points game?
- Which credit card should I sign up for?
- What is the best credit card out there?
- What is the best airline to fly with?
- What is the best points program?
All good questions. So I thought it was time for me to update the “Getting Started” guides found on the menu bar. Glide your mouse on “Getting Started” and there should be a drop down menu.
First, you will find Pointshogger 101 which is a step by step guide to get you going. I personally refer to all 8 steps on a regular basis to readjust my strategy as the industry continually evolves. This page cross references many other relevant posts to get more details about specific topics.
Secondly, you will find the Understanding Credit Cards page, which explains the different type of rewards that you can earn. Personally, I like transferable points the most to give myself the most flexibility. But I am also a big fan of fixed value cards to help me cover taxes, fuel surcharges and other similar fees that are not otherwise covered when redeeming miles and points for a reward.
Lastly, if you are a business owner, we have an affiliate with American Express where you can earn higher than advertised sign up bonuses.
My question for you is whether the is more introductory information that you would like to see? Please let us know in the comment section below!
