British Airways Short-Haul Devaluation
This week we say British Airways announced that effective February 2, 2016, they will be increasing their short haul reward redemptions. Below is the official announcement from British Airways:
- On 2 February 2016, we’ll be making some changes to the Executive Club pricing structure for reward flights originating or terminating in the United States of America.
- The change will only affect shorter routes on American Airlines and Alaska Airlines, with reward flights now starting from 7,500 Avios, rather than 4,500 Avios, plus taxes, fees and carrier charges from $5.60 USD. The majority of North American reward flight prices will remain unchanged.
It kind of sucks to see, but it was such a great deal that it was bound to happen at some point. Now the award redemption schedule is more in line with the other airlines.
“How Much Are Your Points Worth” page is now revamped to “The Points Index”!
Check out our new Points Index page where you can now directly enter your miles and points into our simple calculator to find out just how much they are worth in dollar value based on our calculated valuation! This is to improve on our old page where we only give a list of the valuation numbers for each loyalty program. We are still playing around with this page to see if there is a more informative way to look at your points and miles portfolio, but in the meantime we hope you will find it useful and convenient, not to mention motivating in being a points collector.
Dollar value is in Canadian dollars only.
Remember to check the date we last updated the page to see how current our valuation is!
Happy Halloween!!
