Newest Edition of IHG’s Pointsbreak Released (January 29, 2018 – April 30, 2018)
You have probably already read from other bloggers that IHG hotels has revamped its Pointsbreak program, which runs from January 29, 2018 – April 30, 2018. In the past, the promotion offers a reduction in the number of points required to redeem for a free hotel night. Hotels that required 30,000 or 40,000 points per night can be redeemed for 5,000 points per night if they are listed in the promotion. I believe that this is an incredible offer that I have been able to take advantage of on many occasions.
IHG Rewards decided to include hotels nights, not only for 5,000 points per night, but also a reduction to 10,000 or 15,000 points per night. Initially, I thought this was a great move, considering that some hotels are going up to 70,000 per night. So if we saw hotels for 40,000 – 60,000 per night be reduced to 10,000 or 15,000 points per night, it would be an amazing offer.
In terms of Canadian hotels specifically, a lot of focus was on hotels in the province of Alberta during this promotion (complete list here):

I wonder what happened to the rest of the country?
Anyway, as for the rest of the world, you might want to take a look at the InterContinentals and Crown Plazas that are listed. You may find some great value there. Either way, my tip is that once the list is released, do not wait long to book your hotel stay as there is limited inventory for this promotion. Some hotels get booked very quickly.
Canada seems to have gotten much much smaller overnight
I wonder how much longer we will hear the excuse that it is a smaller market…
