[PROMOTION] 25,000 Sign Up Bonus with the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card (expired October 31, 2014)
Unfortunately, for the time being, none of the co-branded Aeroplan credit cards have their annual fee waived. So I will be holding off singing up for any of those Aeroplan cards for now. I will stick with the American Express Gold Card for the time being.
The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card is offering a higher than usual sign up bonus. Below are the highlights of the credit card:
- $120 annual fee
- $50 for additional cardholders
- Earn 25,000 sign up bonus points (15,000 after your first purchase and another 10,000 after spending $1,000 within the first 90 days when you apply before
October 31, 2014) - Earn 1.5 point for every $1 spent on gas, grocery, drug store and AirCanada.com (excluding Air Canada vacation packages) purchases
- Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases
- Earn 1 free checked bag when travelling on an Aeroplan reward flight
- Earn 1 annual Maple Leaf Lounge guest pass when travelling on an Aeroplan flight reward operated by Air Canada
Between a higher sign up bonus or waiving the first year annual fee, I prefer the first year annual fee waived. That being said, the 25,000 sign up points (worth up to 1.8 cents a piece) or up to $450 if leveraged well, so that easily justifies the $120 annual fee. Personally I’m not a fan of buying points this way, even if I am getting more value for my points than what I am paying. I think that I will only pursue that route when there comes a when no credit card company offers any first year annual fees waived. Until then, I’ll keep going for the best available promotion at any given time.
It’s too bad that the 1 free checked bag is only on a reward flight, not a regular flight. Same goes for the Maple Leaf Lounge guest pass, it is only valid for a reward flight as well. Either way, it is still better than no perks.
I am hoping to see continued improvements to this credit card.
