[AIRLINE] Virgin Atlantic to No Longer Operate in Canada
Virgin Atlantic announced that they will no longer be operating in Canada. The summer seasonal service from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) will discontinue as of October 11, 2014. I was hoping to write up a post about Virgin Atlantic because I heard a lot of good things about its loyalty program: Flying Club.
In the meantime, if you are still looking for a direct flight from Vancouver to London, you can still fly with Air Canada or British Airways for a direct flight. Seems like Virgin Atlantic was not able to compete with the other airlines, nor were they able to gain any foothold into the Canadian market.
Though, the loss of Virgin Atlantic’s 1 flight to Canada is not a huge blow, it is still a sad story of decreasing the competition during the times when we all want to see more competition.
another sad news… I was hoping to burn my delta miles with them.
Another option might be to fly from LAX/SFO to LHR..

You can also consider Air Transat which flies to Gatwick.
I could do that and pay unnecessary fuel surcharge when redeeming my miles..
Unfortunately Air Transat does not have a loyalty program. So you would just have to pay full price.
