[HOTEL] 2016 Reward Chart Changes with Marriott
Marriott Rewards has released their 2016 hotel category changes that come into effect on March 24, 2016. First off, let’s recap the number of points required for a reward night with Marriott.

Overall, there are:
- 797 hotels are changing categories
- 560 hotels are going up by one category
- 237 hotels are going down by one category
Overall, it actually seems pretty bad, but it’s actually looking great for people wanting to travel to Canada.
But let’s start with the bad news first, 3 Canadian hotels are going up in categories. That’s actually a very low number and it’s not the high end hotels that are affected either.

The good news is that there are 19 Canadian hotels that are dropping in categories. That is pretty sweet for us! It was not this good back in 2015 and it was brutal in 2014.
I think a big part of the reason why so favourable is because of the weak Canadian dollar.
