Top Credit Card Higher than Normal Sign Up Bonuses for February 2017

Quite a few credit card extended their offers from the 2016 holdover. Last year was really a strong year, so I have drastically lowered my expectations for this year. For now, there are some decent offers to be had.

Keep in mind that the list I provide are offers that are higher than the normal sign up bonuses and not what is considered a good offer. I provide this list because generally, you want to catch these bonus offers when you are going to sign up for the specific credit card anyway. You mine as well get a higher than normal sign up bonus.

List of Top Credit Cards Sign Up Bonuses

I ranked the credit cards by the price of the annual fees (lowest to highest) and then in alphabetical order:

  • BMO Air Miles MasterCard – no annual fee, earn 800 sign up bonus Air Miles (if you sign up before February 20, 2017). Earn 400 bonus miles after your first purchase and earn an additional 400 bonus miles after spending $1,000 in the first 3 months)
  • BMO CashBack MasterCard – no annual fee, earn $75 cash back (if you apply before February 20, 2017). Earn $25 cash back after your first purchase and earn an additional $50 cash back after spending $1,500 in the first 3 months.
  • BMO SPC Air Miles MasterCard – no annual fee, earn 500 sign up bonus Air Miles after your first purchase (if you sign up before February 20, 2017).
  • BMO SPC CashBack MasterCard – no annual fee, earn $60 cash back (if you apply before February 20, 2017). Earn $30 cash back after your first purchase and earn an additional $30 cash back after spending $1,000 in the first 3 months.
  • MBNA Best Western MasterCard – No annual fee, earn 40,000 sign up bonus points after your first purchase (no specified termination date)
  • BMO CashBack World Elite MasterCard – $120 annual fee, earn $150 sign up bonus cash back (if you apply before February 20, 2017). Earn $50 cash back after your first purchase and earn an additional $100 cash back after spending$3,000 in the first 3 months.
  • TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card – $120 annual fee (first year fee waived if you apply before March 5, 2017), earn 25,000 sign up bonus Aeroplan miles (if you apply before March 5, 2017). Earn 15,000 miles after your first purchase and earn 10,000 anniversary bonus miles when you keep your account active for 12 consecutive months.
  • CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card – $399 annual fee, $99 annual fee for an authorized user and earn 50,000 sign up Aeroplan bonus miles (if you apply before February 28, 2017). Earn 25,000 miles after your first purchase, 25,000 miles when you spend $1,000 within the first 3 monthly statements. *Warning, once in a life time sign up bonus rule for this promotional offer.*

Other list ideas

I may look into a post with the top first year fee waived offers if there is a demand for it or any other ideas that you may suggestion.

  1. BMO recently changed the sign up bonus to get 4% cash back for the 1st 4 months on the no annual fee Cashback MC (get up to $125) and the $120 annual fee CashBack World Elite MC (get up to $250).

  2. The Scotia Momentum VISA Infinite sign up bonus is now higher than the normal FYF as you get 5% cash back on the 1st $3000 in purchases (up to $150 cash back) in your first 3 months but you have to pay the $99 annual fee.

    The CIBC Dividend VISA Infinite sign up bonus is now higher than the normal FYF as you also get 4% cash back on the 1st $5000 in purchases (up to $200 cash back) in your first 6 months. This offer us only available to new 1st time CIBC card holders.

    1. Hmm… I primarily focus on one time lump sum sign up bonus for this post. Seems like I should alter my list to accommodate more options. Thanks for the heads up!

  4. How did you end up with a promotion of 40 000 points for the Best Western card? I asked an agent on their online chat/website and they say the promotion is currently 20 000 points. Thanks!

  5. Awesome. Would be great if it also included any sign up bonuses (ex. Points, cash back etc) that are also being offered with the annual fee credited/waived
