Marriott Rewards Free Night Certificate Coming Through
Check your Marriott Rewards account. The much anticipated “Rewards Certificate MR VISA CA ANNIV FREE NGT CAT 5” due to the termination of the Chase Marriott credit cards should be coming through today.
The certificate gives you a free night at any category 5 hotels with Marriott. With the pending integration of SPG and Ritz-Carlton hotels in August, 2018, it will be interesting to see how the certificate works out then.
In the meantime, if you received the certificate, it should look something like this when it shows up on your account:
This was a long time coming, considering the cards were closed on March 15, 2018. That being said, if you did not have any urgent upcoming trips, it might actually be a good thing to receive the certificate later because of the 1 year expiry date on it.

Normally, I would recommend to follow up, but I feel like you may need to wait. They did say that they will credit everyone before the end of May.

You don’t receive free night certificate until you renew for $80. your Marriott chase Visa card on the anniversary month. You are saying the chase Marriott card is history? Never was informed about this. My card is active.
Disregard my previous reply as this cancellation does not apply to the US Chase Marriott cardholders.

Good timing!! Received my free night today. It’s unfortunate they cancelled the Visa card in Canada as this was my goto card for all purchases.
Very unfortunately. Though I remain hopeful that we will see a new co-branded card before the end of the year! Just hope it won’t be worse.

Used ours already as we changed our plans to fit this certificate before the change over to points in august..This pays a 1 night prior to a cruise at 204$ plus tax at the Courtyard near Miami airport cat 5…This changed our plans but as we booked with points we just cancelled and rebooked with the voucher.
Hard to say what cat. this Marriott hotel will be but even if it goes down to 4 in high season it will be more points than what they might give when they convert the certificate into points.
Glad you got value from it! But still prefer that this card never came to an end 🙁
