[TRAVEL] Higher Fuel Prices Good for Airlines?
This post is in reference to a recent news article that talks about the benefits of higher oil prices.
The price of oil has doubled in the last decade, but airline fares have not double. The reason is because most airlines have been forced to change their business model by seeking more fuel efficient technologies to fly their planes. As a result, planes require less fuel to operate, which is a good thing for many different reasons.
I am very glad to see that airlines did not pass on the costs to its customers, and rather focused on cost cutting measures.
I would like to propose an even bolder idea. When planes fly in the skies, they soar above the clouds. To me, it would make perfect sense to have solar panels on the wings of each plane. I would like to see an technology that allow planes to fly with solar panels to help power parts of the plane, in a hybrid manner, along with fuel. I’m not an engineer, but I would hope that this is possible.
That being said, my point is, going forward, I hope to see airlines continue to seek more cost efficient ways to operate, where it can be a win/win solution. Where they can reduce their operating expenses so that they can keep their fares low.
