Below is a summary of the changes to Aeroplan that was going to come into effect in June 2020.
Aimia’s (owner of Aeroplan) Chief Executive Officer, Jeremy Rabe released a video explaining some of the changes expected from July 2020 onward to its reward program. In short, the changes look very promising.
Amazon.ca is one of the more valuable Aeroplan partners that was added in 2018. In celebration of Amazon Prime Day, you can earn 5x the Aeroplan miles from July 16-18, 2018. Note that this offer is exclusive to Amazon Prime members only. In addition, CIBC Aeroplan cardholders can earn an extra 3 miles for every $1 spent throughout July. That is a total of 8x the miles.

On April 26, 2018, Aeroplan released a statement outlining its commitment to redefine its travel rewards and a preview of what to expect beyond June 2020. Today, I am interviewing Chris Willoughby, General Manager of Marketing of Aeroplan to get more insights about this announcement.
Please tell us about yourself. What is your role with Aeroplan?
Let’s face it, after a slew of bad news for Aeroplan, they could use some good news. Aeroplan announced the renewal of a multi-year agreement with Rocketmiles. Rocketmiles is a third party hotel booking that allows you to earn miles for bookings. This partnership means that Aeroplan members can continue to earn a minimum of 1,000 miles and up to 10,000 miles per night. Note that Rocketmiles has more than 400,000 hotels in their portfolio to choose from.
A press release just came out announcing that Aeroplan is teaming up with Amazon.ca, effective April 24, 2018. Just when we thought Aeroplan was taking a nose-dive, they came out with a strong response.

Aeroplan has a strong relationship with Costco in Canada, that allows you to earn bonus miles.
