[HOTEL REVIEW] Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza (Victoria, British Columbia)

I recently stayed at the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza in Victoria, British Columbia.

Other than when I was a kid, I never stayed at a Best Western myself. Prior to reserving the hotel, I signed up for a points card and used a status match to reach Platinum level right away. I usually prefer IHG hotels because they have more choices and their points never expire, but Victoria does not have any IHG hotels. Furthermore, Best Western’s points never expire for North American members, so it was an easy decision for me.

Apparently Best Western is known for great customer service, so this was my chance to test it out. As soon as I arrive at the hotel, I was greeted with a very customer friendly reception. They had three people working at reception which seems very efficient to me. I wanted to park my car on the street, but there was only a very small spot left for essentially small cars. I had a car rental which I thought was a fairly small car. Anyway, one of the employees at reception walked all the way outside with me to check if my car would fit in the spot. Of course it did not and I had to pay for valet parking (it was a stretch anyway), but I really appreciated the efforts made by the staff. I paid a discounted rate, under $100 (granted this was in September on a weekend), and they still managed to upgrade me to a suite on the top floor, which was greatly appreciated.

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely recommend this hotel again.
