With Air Canada’ lowest elite level, Altitude Elite 35K, you, along with a domestic partner, dependent children, and guest (until February 28, 2017) can access the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges located in the domestic and transborder departure zones of Canadian airports along with those in Los Angeles, New York (LaGuardia) and Newark.

All the other Air Canada Altitude elite levels members can access the lounge with their domestic partner, dependent children, and guest when departing on an Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express flight, as well as, domestic Maple Leaf Lounges upon arriving in Canada.

Star Alliance Gold

Air Canada is a member of Star Alliance, so they honour elite status members within the Star Alliance family. You and an additional guest on a same-day ticket on a qualifying, departing flight can get lounge access when travelling on a departing Star Alliance flight, in any class of service.

Customers travelling on a Latitude or Flex

When you book an Air Canada Latitude or Flex fare online, you can also purchase a Maple Leaf Lounge access or add lounge access up to 24 hours before the flight.

Credit Cards

Unlike the credit cards that give you Priority Pass lounge access, it works a little differently with the Maple Leaf Lounge. One of the major differences is that the credit cards do not offer any membership with the Maple Leaf Lounge. Aside from a few that offer unlimited lounge access, they generally only offer one time access with specific conditions to follow. Below is the complete list of credit cards in Canada that offer free access to the Maple Leaf Lounge.

  1. Hi Matthew, I follow your blog and enjoy it. But you could do a lot better than just summarizing information that is widely publicly available. Readers follow a blog for value added information and insights. A unique spin on a story, an interesting experience, insightful analysis, and of course strategies and deals (which I do enjoy from your articles). Or simply reblogging a current development (no shortage of those in the current travel world) and commenting on it with a fresh perspective. Keep up the good work though; I think you’ve created a fantastic resource that has great potential.

    1. You won’t be able to get a lounge pass just by walking in with at least one of the preconditions that I listed above.

  2. Great post! I believe with the the Amex platinum also allows you a spouse with you. Do you know how they verify spouse? What if you have a family member or friend with you?

  3. My understanding is that Lounge access for 35K was changed for 2017 year – no spouses, dependents, etc now. Instead you get an additional 3 lounge passes. I would double check your information to confirm.

  4. I am flying on a rewards trip which includes a Maple Leaf lounge pass. I want to have my husband to be able to join me, but cannot find info. Can he pay a fee to join me on a long layover?

  5. Matthew, great job thanks. I got a maple leaf lounge pass and I’ll be travelling with my daughter, 11 years of age. Can I bring her with me to the lounge?

  6. What do you get in the lounge? A place to relax, food, drunks, coffee? I cant find that info anywhere. Sounds lije a good thing to have but what are the benefits?

  7. I used my aeroplan points to buy lounge pass.
I clearly didn’t read the details – they’re only valid for domestic and trans border. I’m travelling internationally.
Wonder if they’ll let me in.
    Guess I could try!!
If not, I suppose I could stay in the domestic terminal until it’s time to move down to my gate. I have a long 6.5hr layover.

  8. Are infants allowed in Maple Leaf lounges? I have my little one travelling with me in a short haul business class flight.
