VIA Rail Summer Offer for Kids

The summer is fast approaching. As usual, VIA Rail is offering a great promotion for summer travel for kids between the ages of 2 and 11 for only $15.

The generous $15 fare is for economy class, if you booked between May 2, 2016 and August 31, 2016 for travel between June 20, 2016 and August 31, 2016.

Just a few rules about travelling with children to keep in mind.

2 years of age and younger

Infants and toddlers under the age of 2 (under 24 months) travel for free, provided that they do not occupy a seat. Otherwise you will have to purchase a seat.

2 to 8 years of age

A child under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or an adult 18 years of age or over.

8 to 11 years of age

A parent or legal guardian completes and signs a waiver of liability form, along with a $25 service charge (one-way) to allow children between the ages of 8 and 11 to travel unaccompanied.

12 years of age and older

Children ages 12 and over may travel unaccompanied on VIA trains. The child can also receive the unaccompanied minor service provided that they fall under the same conditions as children aged 8 to 11 years.
