Black Friday and Cyber Monday: Deals for Canadians

It’s Black Friday and there are deals everywhere as we wish our neighbours in the United States and Happy Thanksgiving! In recent years, both Black Friday and Cyber Monday have been combined into a long weekend of unbelievable discounts assisting our needs into the holiday season. Many hotels and airlines have been offering Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals leading up to the end of November. Even Canadians have a chance to take advantage over these Black Friday deals.

If you know that you will be planning a trip in a few months, you can take advantage of deals offered by Air Canada, WestJet and Porter as you can travel months after your booking date.

Air Canada is offering vacation packages from Toronto to Cancun and Toronto to Puerto Plata for only $199 (plus taxes and fees). With this promotion, you can still earn Aeroplan Miles.

Usually I pay about $500 to $600 for a flight to Portland, Oregon. It seems like WestJet is offering an extraordinary price during their Black Friday promotions.

If you go with their Econo fare, it will cost $320.18 for a flight from Ottawa to Portland, while their Flex fare costs about $100 more, clocking in at $443.03. Now I have tried booking for several dates in May, June, and August of 2016 and this pretty much sums up the results.

All dates did not offer an Econo fare, and the Flex fare clocked in at $520.52, which is about $100 more than when you make the booking during their Black Friday sale.

Some of the deals offered by airlines and hotels will not be publicized until the actual date, especially for some unbelievable Cyber Monday promotions as in previous years, they have been known to sell in minutes.
