Canadian Airline Series: Air Tindi

In today’s post, we will be introducing Air Tindi, an airline which is based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Its major hub is the Yellowknife Airport. Air Tindi links less populated communities throughout northern Canada including Fort Simpson, Lutsel K’e, Gameti, Wekweeti and Whati.

Air Tindi also has a partnership with Advanced Medical Solutions, providing medevac services in the Northwest Territories.

Air Tindi Flights

Air Tindi is a subsidiary of Discover Air which provides aviation and logistics services.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to make bookings on their website; all flight reservations can only be made by calling Air Tindi’s Reservations Office.

Travellers must check in 60 minutes before their departure time or reserved seat may be given away to other passengers. You will be allowed one free piece of checked baggage, weighing a maximum weight of 50 lbs. Excess baggage will be permitted, but appropriate charges will be applied.

Air Tindi has no frequent flyer program, but they do provide scenic tours on their floatplanes. They currently offer three different tours:

45 Minute City Tour

For $169 per person, you can see Yellowknife and its surrounding areas. You will begin your journey at Air Tindi Float Base, then to Ndilo & Latham Island, City Skyline and Local Gold Mines, Prosperous Prelude and Madeline Lakes, Igraham Trail, Yellowknife Bay, Community of Detah and finish off at Yellowknife Old Town.

4-Hour East Arm Tour

For $3999, seven travellers can see the deepest lakes of North America. You will begin your journey at Air Tindi Floatbase, the travel to Ndil & Latham Island, Yellowknife River, Prosperous Prelude and Madeline Lakes, Cameron Falls and the Ingraham Trail, Taltheilei Narrows Redcliff Island on Christie Bay, Ethen Island, Blanchet Island, Caribou Islands and Cros Cap, Dyrbone Moose and Wool Bay, Detah and finish off at Yellowknife Bay.

One-Day Nahanni Tour

For $9,599, seven travellers can see one of the most beautiful areas in north Canada. You will begin your journey at the Air Tindi Floatbase, then travel to Yellowknife Bay, Great Slave Lake North Arm, Behchoko, Horne Plateau, Fort Simpson on the Mackenzie River, Nahanni National Park, Virginia Falls via South Nahanni River, Nahanni Plateau and Ram River Canyons, Little Doctor Lake, Fort Simpson and finish off at Air Tindi Floatbase.
