How Canadian Flights are Affected to and from Brussels
It has been a sad week for travellers. As a result of the tragedy, Air Canada and many other airlines are offering a free rebooking.

Aeroplan is once again offering its conversion bonus promotion. This time around, they are offering its highest level of bonus ever. What I like most about this promotion is that there is an indication from Aeroplan that they are trying to improve their program by offering something more competitive than before. This is the least they could do since their devaluations to their award chart.
TD Canada Trust is offering a slew of higher than normal Aeroplan sign up bonuses. This is a very competitive move by TD, which is actually very impressive.
I think that we are due for an update for airline expiration policies, as a few of them have changed recently. I have only listed frequent flyer programs that have a direct way of earning miles with them in Canada. You can always keep these accounts active with co-share or alliance member partners.
When we’re out collecting those Aeroplan miles, it sounds great when we redeemed enough for a free flight across the world. However, this isn’t always the case. A free ticket definitely sounds like a great rewards, but not if those taxes and surcharges end up costing you half a ticket if you were to purchase it.
Aeroplan and American Express have teamed up to offer 4 co-branded charged cards. They do not offer any credit cards cards, no any business version of the cards. Below is a list of changes and sign up bonus Aeroplan promotions to look out for.
In a previous post, we wrote about Aeroplan’s Fixed Rate and Market Fare reward tickets. Fixed Rate tickets are exactly what their name is, a standard award redemption rate which does not change any time of the year that you book the ticket (unless there is an overall program changes). For Market Fare rates, they are based on whether you travel during high or low season, which allows you to redeem the ticket at a lower or higher rate than the fixed rate.
For those of you who do not rent a car very often and do not want to earn car rental points, another option to consider is to bank the rewards that you would earned to an airline partner. Aeroplan is a partner of Avis and Hertz. Currently, these 2 car rental companies are offering 3 Aeroplan bonus miles promotions each.
As a Canadian, I revolve my frequent flying earning between two major programs which dominate most of our country: Airmiles and Aeroplan. While you can earn and use Aeroplan points on Star Alliance partners, there are also many other ways you can earn your Aeroplan miles.
When considering renting a car, it may not always make the most sense to earn car rental loyalty program points when there are promotions for partner programs. Aeroplan has partnered up with Avis and Hertz to offer some bonus miles on certain car rentals.
