Happy Halloween! Rundown of the Scene Program 2013
Are you up for a scary movie tonight? For all you movie lovers and movie theatre goers, the SCENE Rewards Program has some great value. Cineplex has done a great job with the SCENE program, even starting to run out its competitors, such as Empire Theatres. The SCENE program has actually continually increased the value of its program without much devaluations and I hope it continues to keep this up. The SCENE card is free to sign up and here are some different ways to earn points:
- Earn 250 points just for signing up
- Earn 150 points on concession combos and 75 points for children
- Earn 100 points for an adult movie ticket and 50 points for a children ticket that you can tack on to your account
- Earn 20 points by purchasing your ticket online or on the mobile App
- Earn 5 points for every $1 spent at the Cineplex Store
- Save 10% on all concessions
- Save 10% more on Tuesday movie tickets
There are many different ways to redeem your rewards, but here are some of the best bang-for-your-buck:
- For 2,500 points – Cineplex Entertainment Adult Night Out Package (2 tickets, 2 regular drinks and 1 regular popcorn)
- For 1,000 points – A free movie
- Redeem your reward ticket for 3-D movies
What is great about this program is that regardless of which ticket you buy, you still earn the same 100 points. Therefore, you can really rack up the points on Tuesdays and then use your points on expensive tickets, such 3-D movies on a Friday or Saturday night. I would say, if that particular ticket is worth less than $10, you should pay for it. Anything over $10 you should use your points for it.
You can also jump start your SCENE account with a credit card and/or debit card.
The credit card:
- No annual fee
Until November 30, 2013earn 4,000 sign up bonus points (the regular is 2,000 points)- Earn 5 points for every $1 spent at Cineplex Entertainment theatres
- Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases
The debit card:
- Earn 1,000 points when you use your debit card for the very 1st time
- Earn 1,000 points when you set up an automatic transaction with Scotiabank
- Earn 5 points for every $1 spent at Cineplex Entertainment theatres
- Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases
I am not a fan of the debit card, but I am a fan of the credit card, especially since there is no annual fee on this credit card. This is a no-brainer credit card to have if you love going to the movies, even if it is just a few times a year. Just remember to keep this credit card active once very 12 months or else you will be hit with a fee. This credit card also helps you keep your SCENE account active (needs to be active once every 24 months) in case you do not go to the theatres for a long while. This way you can save your points for one big hit blockbuster 3-D movie.
Conclusion – The SCENE program has become an extremely competitive loyalty points program in Canada. We can only hope that they continue to remain competitive constantly improve their program. With the movie rental business on a fast paced decline and their competition closing down, this is the chance for Cineplex to capitalize on it. Furthermore, Cineplex better remain competitive because if they can run someone else out of business, someone else can run them out too, most notably Netflix.
Don’t forget about the FREE MOVIES on November 16, 2013 with some concessions items only for $2. Expect a long line-up.
