[AIRPORT] Options of Flights from Detroit to Canada

It has been a while since I last wrote post about flights from a common destination. In the United States, we have written about Atlanta, Chicago, Los AngelesNew York City and Washington D.C. Today, we add the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) to this list.

I would note that if you live in the Windsor, Ontario area, you probably already know to consider flying out of the Detroit airport instead to get some good deals.

  • Air Canada Express – Toronto (YYZ)
  • Delta Air Lines (Seasonal) – Toronto (YYZ), Vancouver (YVR)
  • Delta Connection – Montréal (YUL), Ottawa (YOW), Toronto (YYZ)

As you can see from the list, there is not very many options for Canadians living the Prairies and the west coast, so hopefully we will see some added competition there. Namely, Calgary, Edmonton, as well as a year-round flight to and from Vancouver. I suspect the reason we don’t see more western Canada (between British Columbia and Manitoba) flights to Detroit is because the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) already services those residents well enough. But you can never have too much competition as a consumer!

You may also have noticed that the Detroit Metropolitan Airport is a Delta Air Lines hub (keep in mind that the airline has a frequent flyer program called SkyMiles). This means that if you fly with SkyTeam or Delta Air Lines, expect to connect through Detroit every now and then. This may not be such a bad thing since the Detroit airport is a fun one.

Some of you may be able to relate, but I actually very much enjoy being at airports. I associate airports with travel and I associated travel with fun. So, of course, when I was at this airport, I went exploring and took a couple of photos to share with you.

They had a neat water fountain.

This was an amazing view of a plane while going down an escalator.
