Comparing Capital One Aspire versus Venture Card

Capital One used to be my favourite credit card company, especially when they still has the Delta SkyMiles and IHG Rewards co-branded credit cards. They really slimmed down their credit card portfolio in Canada. Today, we are going to discuss their most premium credit card that they offer and compare it to a similar one in the United States.

Comparing Canada, Hong Kong and USA Cathay Pacific Credit Cards

Thank you Bob for today’s post idea suggestion. Note that I am always open to suggestions on credit card comparison posts as I have a lot of fun writing them, especially when I am comparing cards from different countries.

Cathay Pacific has a long list of co-branded credit card, but I selected 4 from the entire pack to compare. As we are a Canadian-centric blog, I started with the Canadian version. I generally like to compared to the United States, seeing as we are such close neighbours and they offer the most competitive cards in the world, which I like to see how Canada matches up against the best. Lastly, I think that it is most fitting to compared with the Hong Kong co-branded cards, as Cathay Pacific is based out of ther

I will be writing about the British Airways, Executive Club co-branded credit cards. Below are the 4 credit cards that we will be comparing. Also, it is only fitting as the Canadian and US cards are offering a higher than normal sign up bonus.

Comparing Canada and US Best Western Credit Card

Best Western Rewards is one of my favourite loyalty programs, even though it is not considered one of the more luxurious brands, so it may not be as popular in the frequent flyer community. I think the two main reasons why I like them is because of the no points expiry policy and the fact that they offer a very competitive co-branded credit card in Canada. Without a credit card option, they probably would not be so high on my list of favourite hotel programs.

Below is the highlights of a list of co-branded Best Western in Canada and the United States.

Ranking the Credit Card Portfolios of Each Canadian Financial Institutions (updated May 1, 2017)

It has been exactly 6 months since the last time I updated this list. The reason is because there has been very little movement until the past two months, where there were quite a few changes in the credit card industry that warrants an update to the rankings. Last year was a strong year for credit cards, so I assumed that 2017 would be a slow down year anyway. Unfortunately, most of the changes so far to the industry have been negative. Companies that moved down the list is because of a negative change. The ones that moved up is due to the downfall of the other companies.
