[TRAVEL] Bus, Train or Plane?
Many of us are travelling over the holidays, so this is a great opportunity to compare a few alternatives to travelling. Is taking the bus worth it? The answer, as usual is, it depends. I am clearly a big fan…

In a surprise move by CIBC, they are offering 20,000 Aeroplan points with first year annual fee waived on their two credit cards, the Gold and Infinite versions.
This is one of those too good to be true deals, so I’ve been trying to read through all the fine lines. For now, here are the highlights of the two cards:
On January 1, 2014, TD finally came out with its new Aeroplan credit card products. I will start with analyzing their highest version, the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card. Below are the highlights of the credit card:
Last time, we wrote about the top credit card at one of the more low profile banks, HSBC Canada. This time around, we’re looking at another low profile bank, Laurentian bank, to see if there is a hidden gem. The Laurentian bank website is definitely not user-friendly at all, but I managed to rumble through the site to figure out what types of products they offer.
CIBC decided to waived its annual fee and raise the sign up bonus. Previously, CIBC had the 30,000 sign up bonus Aventura points promotion, but no annual fee waived. Now they reduced the sign up bonus to 20,000 points, but waived the first year annual fee, which I think is the better deal.

With the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card, you earn Scotia Rewards points that will be used for travel expenses. The highlights of the credit card are as follows:
First of all, I’m not sure why Capital One left “Priority Club” on the credit card when they changed their name to IHG Rewards since July 2013. As you may have read, IHG Rewards is one of my favourite hotel chains, mostly because their points never expire. Furthermore, the chain offers a great variety of hotels to choose from: InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Hualuxe Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Even Hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Resort, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites. Essentially ranging from 3-5 star hotels.
