[PROMOTION] Bagful of Miles / It’s-Been-A-Year Event

Air Miles is cranking things up to finish out 2020. There are 2 current initiatives happening at the same time.

Bagful of Air Miles Bonus Event

Between October 29, 2020 and November 10, 2020, you can earn bonus miles for certain daily food and products are Air Miles partnered stores. This is a great way to rack up more bonus miles on every day spending.

As you know, we do always recommend to go for double dipping, as in shop for products that are also on sale already. It might not make sense to buy products at regular price just for the sake of the bonus miles. But if you were going to buy it at some in the near future anyway, and you find the product on sale, along with the bonus miles, then I would definitely recommend stocking up now and rack up those bonuses.

It’s-Been-A-Year Event

Air Miles is current reducing the amount of miles required to redeem for merchandise. The offer period runs from November 2, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

Keep in mind that Gold status Collectors can use up to 5% fewer miles and Onyx status Collectors can use up to 10% fewer miles.

Thoughts

I have been tough on Air Miles over the past few years, due to devaluations to their rewards, expiry policy, etc. But in the past few months, I feel that they are coming out ahead in certain ways.

Their rewards are not tied to travel only, so they are not as negatively affected from the current pandemic perspective. Air Miles has a more diversified loyalty program overall (whether it’s from earning ore redeeming rewards).

Furthermore, even if their rewards have become more expensive to redeem over the years, it may be offset with all the bonus earning offers (e.g Bagful of Air Miles Bonus mentioned above), as well as reward redemption reduction events (e.g. It’s-Been-A-Year Event mentioned above).

At the end of the day, all depends on how well we earn and leverage our miles for reward redemptions. As usual, do your calculations carefully before going ahead if you want to maximize the value of your rewards!
