[ANALYSIS] Chase Sears Financial Voyage MasterCard
Even though Sears has been closing several of its stores down in the past 1-2 years, they still have a credit card that is worthy of another look. When you shop at Sears, you can join the loyalty program called Sears Club and earn points. Below are the highlights of the Chase Sears Financial Voyage MasterCard:
- $39 annual fee
- Free additional cardholders
- Earn $30 Welcome Bonus in Sears Club points upon approval
- Earn $25 in Sears Club points upon first purchase
- Earn 3 points for every $1 spent on Sears Travel purchases
- Earn 2 points for every $1 spent on Sears purchases
- Earn 1.5 poins for every $1 spent on gas, groceries and travel merchant purchases
- Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases
- No foreign currency transaction fees on international purchases
You can use your Sears Club points to redeem for all or part of your airfare, hotel or travel purchases, including taxes and surcharges. What is great is that there is no minimum purchase required to redeem your points. My main issue with the credit card is the $39 annual fee. Though it may not be much compared to some of the other credit cards out there, it is still something that we need to pay.
That being said, there is still definitely some value to be had with this credit card, especially if you can take advantage of the 3x (Sears Travel purchases) and 2x (Sears purchases) points earning opportunities. As usual, with Chase Canada credit cards (minus the Chase Best Buy Reward Zone Visa), the foreign currency transaction fees are waived on international purchases is always a bonus. As a result, this credit card ends up being a great card to use for travel related expenses.
However, if you are looking for a credit card that waives the foreign transaction fee without an annual fee, then I recommend the Chase Amazon.ca Rewards Visa Card instead. As usual, do the calculations before deciding whether this credit card is worth it for you.
