I would not overpay too much for a product that you know you can buy it cheaper somewhere else. I will do a breakdown on the calculation on what is considered an overpayment. I value 1 Aeroplan point at 1.7 cents, at the minimum. If you redeem your points wisely, you can easily get more than the 1.7 cents value per point.

Therefore, at 5x Aeroplan points per $1 spent, you are earning 500 Aeroplan points on a $100 purchase, making it a bonus of 400 Aeroplan points. 400 Aeroplan points is worth 400 x 1.7 cents = $6.80 . Therefore, I would not overpay for the product by too much more than that the $6.80 for a $100 purchase. You will need to decide what you think is a reasonable overpayment.
