[ANALYSIS] TD Aeroplan Visa Signature Card
TD Bank (U.S.) and Aeroplan have decided to launch a credit card in the United States called the TD Aeroplan Visa Signature Card. This will be a very interesting analysis post, because we get to compare a U.S. version of an Aeroplan credit card. Below are the highlights of the credit card:
- $95 annual fee (first year fee waived)
- Earn 25,000 sign up bonus points when you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months
- Earn 2 points for every $1 spent on Air Canada net purchases
- Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases
For all you Canadians living in the United States that want to continue to collect Aeroplan points, now is your chance!
This is a very interesting version. Right off the bat we can see that the annual fee is more reasonable in the U.S. Generally we will see $120 annual fee for a similar version of this credit card in Canada. Having the first year fee waived is just adding more gravy.
The promotional sign up bonus is very generous, though it would be interesting to see what the regular sign up bonus would be. I suspect it might just remain 25,000. Anything lower and they will lose out to the more competitive U.S. credit card market.
The earning ratios are pretty standard. Nothing special, but generous enough.
I plan to watch this credit card very closely to see what changes they might make to it so that we can compare to the Canadian version. So far, I am a fan of this credit card and if I lived in the United States, I would definitely apply for this credit card.
