Top Cash Back Credit Card Offers for October 2019

You will notice for this month’s list, there are quite a few promotional offers that finish at month end. So if you are interested in something, now would be the time to jump on the offers. There is no way to know what will happen come November 1, 2019. Some offers can be extended (e.g. TD cash back offer from last month), terminated or changed something else.

I have split the list into two categories. One with a limited time (but no end date offer) and another one with a limited time offer.

Top Cash Back Credit Card Offers for August 2019

Another month, another list. This time, there is very little change from last month. There were months where I tried to highlight a featured card, or picked a top monthly card. I think that I may go with a rotating theme just to mix things up. For this month, I am going to answer a common question: “If I had to choose 1 cash back card only, which one would it be?”

Top Cash Back Credit Card Offers for July 2019

A few highlights this month, it looks like CIBC upped their game by offering some competitive cash back sign up bonus offers. The Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card offer ends this month, so if you are still thinking about it, this is the time to get it. Personally, I am still more focused on earning miles and points, even though the cash back competition is as high as we have ever seen in Canada over the past 18 months. That being said, for those of you who are frustrating with miles and points, now is as good a time as ever to jump into cash back card. Keep in mind that we also have an going Top Cash Back Credit Cards page which consists of permanent and temporary offers, while this post focuses on temporary offers only. I have broken down the temporary offers into two categories.

Top Cash Back Credit Card Offers for June 2019

Another month, another list. This month’s list is very similar to last months. The main difference is the addition of the TD Cash Back Visa Infinite Card, which was previously on the monthly list, but dropped off. Keep in mind that we also have an going Top Cash Back Credit Cards page which consists of permanent and temporary offers, while this post focuses on temporary offers only. I have broken down the temporary offers into two categories.

Top Cash Back Credit Card Offers for May 2019

Keep in mind that we also have an going Top Cash Back Credit Cards page which consists of permanent and temporary offers, while this post focuses on temporary offers only. I have broken down the temporary offers into two categories. But first, let’s continue with our newest theme of adding a featured card.Key HighlightsI know I have been mentioning the featured card in my last few posts. But I realize that sometimes, it is too difficult to just talk about one card when there is a long list. So I am going to try something different on this post. I am going to mention key highlights for this month’s list.

Ranking the Credit Card Portfolios of Each Canadian Financial Institutions (updated May 1, 2019)

I have been debating how often I should update this post. I decided on 6 months, and it has been the latest trend anyway. There has been several changes (though mostly in the bottom half of the rankings) to the industry in that period of time to warrant an update anyway. Most significantly, it was time to include Brim Financial and Cuets.Every time I write up an update, I generally try to have a theme throughout the post. This time around, I am going to emphasis more on the gap between the rankings.Below are my personal rankings of each company, along with a commentary and a list of some of my top credit card picks for each financial institution.

Top Credit Cards to Use on Road Trips (updated April 1, 2019)

See Also: Top Reasons to go on Road Trips

I usually try to update this post once a year, as we get into spring. Historically, I have updated this post in June, but it may be more useful to update it sooner. The Canadian credit card landscape has changed quite a bit over the past year, so this post was definitely due for an update.

For Canadians, road trips generally consist of cross country or cross boarder to the United States. Perhaps some people venture further into Mexico, but probably not much further south. So this post will focus on two portfolios to put together, for travel within Canada and for travel to the United States / Mexico.

Top Cash Back Credit Card Offers for March 2019

In my last top credit cards post, I started a new trend of mentioning featured cards in each list. I thought I’d keep it going. For this month, there are actually two cards that are tied.

Also keep in mind that we also have an going Top Cash Back Credit Cards page which consists of permanent and temporary offers, while this post focuses primarily on temporary offers.

Featured Cards
The Meridian Visa Infinite Cash Back Card and Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card have virtually the same offers, features and benefits. The two key are the first year fee waived and 10% cash back on the first $2,000 in purchases. The main difference is that the Meridian card does not seem to have an end-date on its offer, but the cards is only available to Ontario residents. The Scotiabank card is more widely accepted.

Top Cash Back Credit Card Offers for February 2019

This is the first cash back list of the year. Just like our other two lists…

Best Current First Year Fee Waived Cards
Top Higher than Normal Sign Up Bonus Offers
… most of the current offers are carried over from last year. Last year was probably the stronger cash back offers ever in Canada. As we begin the new year, I am a little torn. I like seeing the competition elevate in the credit card rewards industry. However, the more emphasis there is on cash back, the less there will be on miles and points.
