[ANALYSIS] BMO Sobeys Air Miles MasterCard
Sobeys, Bank of Montreal and Air Miles have teamed up to offer the BMO Sobeys Air Miles MasterCard, which will allow you to earn Air Miles. Below are the highlights of the credit card:
- No annual fee
- Earn 400 sign up bonus points after your first purchase
- Earn 2 points for every $20 spent at Sobeys stores
- Earn 1 point for every $20 spent on all other purchases
- Get 25% Car Rental Discount at National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car
The no annual fee and the sign up bonus makes this credit card a no-brainer for anyone contemplating it. The reason I say this is because if you are trying to decide whether it is worth it to sign up or not, know that there is no cost to sign up and you get 400 bonus points for doing so. The only question is whether you want the credit hit.
I find the 2 points for every $20 spent at Sobeys generous enough. The 1 point for every $20 spent on all other purchases is pretty much in line with all the other Air Miles credit cards.
The discount on the car rental is nice, but this credit card does not offer enough car rental insurance protection, so we might not be able to take advantage of the discount too often if we want insurance protection on our credit cards. Otherwise, the 25% discount will probably offset needing to purchase insurance directly with the car rental companies. For this factor, I would just compare the different prices that you will need to consider before making a decision.
Therefore, I believe that this is a great credit card for people who do not like paying annual fees and for Air Miles collectors who shop at Sobeys at least once a month for groceries.
