[ANALYSIS] American Express Blue Sky Credit Card
If you are looking for a no annual fee travel credit card, the American Express Blue Sky Credit Card is a great one to consider, which allows your to earn Blue Sky points. Below are the highlights of the credit card:
- No annual fee
- Earn 10,000 points after you spend $500 in the first 3 months
- Earn 1.25 points for every $1 spent on all purchases
- Earn 5,000 points if you refer a friend
The no annual fee makes this credit card an easy choice. The 10,000 bonus points is just icing on the cake. I have seen the bonus up to 12,000 points, but that may never come around again. If you are not in a hurry to get this credit card, you can wait and see what happens. Keep in mind that it may take up to 8 weeks for the bonus to be awarded.
What I like most about this credit card is the ease of redeeming your points. The minimum redemption is 10,000 points and then it goes up in increments of 5,000 points. 1 point is worth 1 cent, which means, 10,000 points is worth $100 in statement credit towards any travel purchase. Therefore, 1.25 points per $1 spent comes out to a 1.25% return, which is pretty good for a no annual fee credit card.
A travel purchase includes: flights, hotels, car rentals and vacation packages.
To redeem your points, you need to use this credit card for a travel purchase. Let’s say you spent $460 on a flight ticket, but you only have 18,000 points. You can redeem 15,000 of your points for a $150 statement credit against your $460 flight ticket. Redemptions much be made within 12 months after the travel purchase is posted to your account, which gives you lots of time to add up your points, months after you travel.
I am a big fan of this credit card and I hope to see continued improvements, so two thumbs up!
