You may have already been reading my top credit card company rankings that I post every few months. The next one is coming out tomorrow. However, I did want to isolate 5 specific companies that I strongly believe that they have the potential to take their business model to the next level. I say this, because they have an opportunity to take over a larger market share because of what they have already established.
One thing that I haven’t done is talk about what are the top reward redemption to choose from, assuming they are available, *cough cough. But let’s assume that the award is available. Below is a list of what I think are the top reward redemptions.
My friend Jeff, from Canadian Kilometers recently wrote a post about the new American Express Fixed Points Travel Rewards. He offered a very comprehensive explanation, so I will supplement what he already mentioned.
I am actually very excited about this new offer. This new move puts them more in line, or maybe even more competitive than the RBC Avion and CIBC Aventura programs.
It took almost a year for this reward redemption event to come around again. This November 26 and 27, 2016, you can receive bonus cash back off when you redeem your Shoppers Optimum Points.
This month, Scotiabank has relaunched its Scotia Rewards program with some interesting enhancements worth looking out for. In celebration of this move, Scotiabank has teamed up with us to do a 18,500 points giveaway if you are an existing credit card holder or you apply for one during the contest period. Otherwise, the winner may qualify for a $150 Scotiabank Visa Debit Card instead. Contest details will be provided at the bottom of the post.
Our buddy Boris from PointsU gave us a heads up about PayPower switching from Visa to MasterCard.
It looks like Visa is taking another hit (i.e. not landing Costco, Walmart fiasco, etc.), albeit a minor one. PayPower has been issuing Visa cards, which will be switching to MasterCard.
It has been a while since I last provided Saturday updates, so I thought I’d do one today. Today’s theme will focus on two Star Alliance members, Air Canada and United Airlines.
In the summer of 2015, the Capital One co-branded IHG Rewards credit cards discontinued. However, existing credit cardholders were grandfathered. But a year later, grandfathered cardholders received a letter stating that their credit cards will cease on November 7, 2016, which has come and gone.
