Lyft and Uber Launched in Vancouver

Love it or hate it, Uber and Lyft are running in Vancouver effective today (January 24, 2020), but with some catches.

Currently, Lyft will be limited to the Vancouver core, while Uber will cover more of Metro Vancouver.

Uber Canada

Below are the list of the cities being serviced in Canada by Uber. Vancouver was really the last big city missing from the list. I would say notable exceptions are the entire Atlantic Canada and Victoria, British Columbia.

  • Calgary, Alberta
  • Edmonton, Alberta
  • Gatineau, Québec
  • Hamilton, Ontario
  • Kingston, Ontario
  • Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario
  • Lethbridge, Alberta
  • London, Ontario
  • Montreal, Québec
  • Niagara Region
  • Ottawa, Ontario
  • Quebec City, Québec
  • Red Deer, Alberta
  • Regina, Saskatchewan
  • Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
  • Toronto, Ontario
  • Vancouver, British Columbia
  • Windsor, Ontario
  • Winnipeg, Manitoba

Lyft Canada

On the other hand, Lyft is still more limited in Canada, where it only operates in 2 provinces:

  • Ajax, Ontario
  • Brampton, Ontario
  • Hamilton, Ontario
  • Mississauga, Ontario
  • Newmarket, Ontario
  • Oshawa, Ontario
  • Ottawa, Ontario
  • Richmond, British Columbia
  • Richmond Hill, Ontario
  • Toronto, Ontario
  • Vancouver, British Columbia

Personally, I have always been for competition. So I like this move.

For those of you living in the Metro Vancouver area, what are your thoughts about Uber and Lyft’s expansion? For everyone else in the country, do you want to see Uber and Lyft continue to expand to more places across the country? Please let us know in the comment section below.
