[PROMOTION] 30% RBC Rewards Conversion Bonus to British Airways’ Executive Club

The 30% RBC conversion bonus to British Airways’ Executive Club is back! Not as good as the 50% bonus that has been offered in the past, but those days may be long gone and probably not going to come around any time soon. So 30% will have to do, which I think is still pretty decent, all things considered (which will be discussed below).

Conditions

For this promotion, is valid between June 15, 2016 to July 31, 2016. Note that you need to convert a minimum of 10,000 RBC Rewards points into Executive Club, which will net you 13,000 Avios.

Personal Thoughts

I personally intend on taking advantage of this promotion. Bonus offers such as these are a really great way to rack up more miles and points quicker. Unfortunately it is rare to find such promotional conversion offers in Canada. Mainly because there are very few transferable points. And even the ones that do exist have very few transfer partners. As a result, it is normal to see fewer transfer bonus offers, especially compared to the United States. Though many would argue that it is not a fair comparison to begin with.

Anyway, British Airways Executive Club is probably the best co-branded partner in Canada to offer such promotions, as they offer the transfer bonus with RBC Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards.

How it works

Though keep in mind that it is the financial institutions that create these promotions and has very less to do with the co-branded partner. The way it usually works is that the co-branded partner would sell their miles or points to a financial institution ahead of time, and then the financial institution decides how to distribute those miles or points. Which is why it is up to the financial institutions to create such bonus offers.

Conclusion

I am at the point where I am always happy to see the types of offers still coming around. With so many financial institutions setting record high profits, and still cutting employees anyway, I am surprised that they are still willing to make customer friendly moves. All this to say, whenever you see an opportunity like this, I would go for it (as I intend to) while it is still available!

  1. Hi Matthew,

When do you think they’ll bring back this promotion? Where does RBC Rewards announce their conversion bonus promotions?

    1. I wish I knew. Generally it has been around 6 months apart. But keep in mind that they can discontinue any time without notice or announcement. So I always assume that every time I see the promotion it is the last.
