For the most part, 2022 was a relatively quiet year in terms of changes to the credit card industry (in terms of permanent offers). There was a significant amount of all-time high sign up bonuses, which do not factor into our ranking system. Our rankings are based on the intention of retaining credit cards for the long term, not based on churning.
Compared to last month, there was a minor change, the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card offer was extended to August 2022.
For this month, the TD offers are coming to an end, so if you have been contemplating signing up, now is as good a time as any!
For this month, Laurentian Bank had an offer ending at the start of April, which has now been extended to June. HSBC also had offers expiring at the beginning of the month, which have now been modified and waiver extended to end of October.
Only the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card is expiring on this month’s list (before we make it to the next month’s list). The TD cards will expire shortly after the next month’s list is published.
For this month, the few offers that will be expiring in early April will not make it to next month’s list. TD offers that expired recently were changed and now ending in either May or July.
Also noteworthy is that the Plastk Secured Visa Credit Card has a decent first year fee waived offer for Canadian students looking to build their credit score.
For this month, all the promotions that expired last month were extended. Brim and Laurentian Bank extended its offer last month to expire this month, while HSBC pushed it to early April.
That leaves several Scotiabank offers expiring this month.
For this month, several offers are coming to an end, notably the HSBC offers. Aside from that, Canada has a healthy amount of first year fee waived promotional offers overall with BMO, Scotiabank and TD leading the way. Hope to see other companies jump on board!
TD had most of their promotion ending from last month’s list, but they ended up extending most of their offers to March 2022 (with some minor tweaks to the offer) or May 2022.
The Brim offer is coming to an end this month. Usually they extended it by 1 month at a time. This time around, they extended by a rare 2 months in one shot, so there is a chance this will really come to an end this time. Or maybe they will offer something different instead starting January. Either way, if you have been thinking about this card for a while now, as is as good a time as any to go for it.
