As we close out the year, I would like to point out that it has been a significant year for cash back credit cards. For better or worse, there have been many significant promotional offers, including some current 10% cash back bonuses.
As you already know, we publish a monthly Top Cash Back Credit Card Offers. That mostly lists higher than normal bonus promotions. However, with several significant cash back offers, I thought I’d give another type of list a try. The reason is because the industry seems to be putting a lot more emphasis on cash back offers.
Since Pointshogger is about maximing rewards for Canadians, I’ve always told myself that if the industry were to ever shift towards cash back, miles and points would have to take a back set. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you see it) in Canada, there were many co-branded airline and hotel credit cards that have discontinued over the past few years.
A new credit card (Simplii Financial Cash Back Visa Card) has hit the market with a bang! For the first time ever, we are seeing two 10% cash bonus promotional offers. Furthermore, several promotions that ended last month had some changes to their offers. Check out the updates below.

Effective November 1, 2017, the jointe venture between Loblaws and CIBC (who ran PC Financial) will terminate. Going forward, PC Financial’s banking clients (over 2 million) will be transferred to CIBC’s new direct banking subsidiary Simplii Financial.
However, the PC Financial’s credit card customers remained unaffected. Which means that the PC Points program with continue business as usual and still run by Loblaws. Do note when your PC Financial banking service is move to Simplii, you will no longer automatically accumulate PC Points with your banking services.
