[TRAVEL] Aeroplan Reward Flight Review Between Ottawa (YOW) and Miami (MIA)
I recently booked a flight between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Miami International Airport (MIA) using my Aeroplan points. It only cost 25,000 points and just under $75 for a return trip. That’s some pretty good value to me.
The flights toward Miami was split into two segments. Ottawa-Chicago and then Chicago-Miami. Both flights were on United Airlines. The flights were very smooth. They both arrived earlier than expected. The service was great. The one downside I have towards United Airlines is that I feel that their fleet is a little outdated for short-haul flights. Though if delaying upgrading its fleet means reducing costs, then I would be glad to pay cheaper flights.
The return flights to Ottawa was also split into two segments and both on Air Canada. The first segment was Miami-Toronto, then Toronto-Ottawa. I mention this specifically because we tend to complain that Air Canada has high tax and fuel surcharges, yet my flight seems to be very affordable. I would pay 25,000 points and add another $75 to Miami any day.
The Air Canada flights were quite comfortable. I am so glad that they have individual screens. The service was great. Both flights also arrived earlier than expected. The Miami-Toronto flight actually arrive 30 minutes ahead of time.
What I noticed about the 4 flights that I took recently is that it was very efficient when passengers boarded the plane to keep the timing on track.
