[TRAVEL INSURANCE] Best Credit Cards for Delayed or Lost Baggage
In previous posts we looked at Emergency Medical Insurance, Trip Interruption and Trip Cancellation. Another important section of Travel Insurance Credit Cards is the coverage for delayed or lost baggage. What this means is that after you arrive to your destination, you are waiting for your bag by the carousel and it doesn’t appear. As soon as bags seem to stop coming up the conveyor belt, chances are, you have a delayed or lost baggage.

In terms of baggage delay, most of the card mentioned offer a $1000 coverage if your baggage arrival has been delayed for more than four hours (some at six hours).
Sometimes it can be frustrating to arrive at a destination only to find out that your luggage did not arrive at the same time with you. There may be essentials that you need and clothing that you may have wanted to wear for the time that you were at the destination. Some airports have been recognized for these type of delays to the congestion of flights flying out through that particular airport. It is important to make notice of this and choose a travel credit card which will help cover these possible expenses.
Hi Shirley,
You guys at Pointshogger, if on purpose or if not, systematically omit any card issued by BMO in your posts and card reviews. Why?
Hi Nachshol, I apologize, it wasn’t on purpose that we omitted the BMO cards. They will be added on the list. Thank you.
Just an FYI regarding the delayed and/or lost luggage insurance offered by the National Bank of Canada’s World Elite MasterCard. You will only be covered if you have purchased the entire cost of BOTH your airfare AND accommodations with said card. If you are redeeming hotel points, staying with relatives or traveling on an itinerary that includes non-paid accommodations, your claim will be denied. This is a truly disingenuous way of promoting a benefit that does not really exist for most travelers.
That’s great information to know. Thank you for sharing this to us.
