IHG Rewards has released another set PointsBreak offers that is valid from October 26, 2015 to January 31, 2016. This has always been my favourite hotel promotion, which reduces the number of points required for a reward night down to 5,000 points. IHG hotel categories range from 10,000 points to 50,000 points per night. That is what makes the Pointsbreak promotion so valuable. You can potentially find hotel rooms normally costing 30,000 or 40,000 points per night for only 5,000 points during the promotional period.

InterContinental Hotel and Starwood in Merger Talks
According to Bloomberg, there seems to be early talks on the topic of merging Starwood Hotels and Resorts (Starwood) with InterContinental Hotels (IHG) into one major corporation. The collaboration of the two companies will create the world’s third-largest hotel corporation by market value, following Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. and Marriot International Inc. This is not the first time we have heard of merger talks between the two companies.

IHG Reward Chart Changes
IHG Rewards is updating its reward change with many changes that go into effect today, May 1, 2015. Last year, only 2 Canadian hotels were affected. This year, there were 6 hotels that dropped in the number of points required for a reward night, while 7 hotels increased in the number of points required for a reward night.
