RBC Visa Signature Black US Credit Cards

You probably saw all over Facebook, a RBC add promoting their new US based Black card. On the surface, I was very excited about the no annual fee version when comparing it to the Gold card (see below). However, once I read the fine print (and discussed with customer service representatives), they are not what it seem. The Black cards are good cards to have for a very specific group of people.

My Updated Credit Card Portfolio

This question of which credit card do I have in my wallet seems to be asked fairly often. So I thought I would share my updated portfolio from last time. I generally try to shake up my batch of credit cards every 3 months, which coincides with the previous post.

Last time, I mentioned that I wanted to keep my portfolio, but it was due for an expansion.

New RBC Cash Back Preferred World Elite MasterCard

Another cash back credit card is being added to the market. The last one was the TD Cash Back Visa Infinite Card, this time is the RBC’s turn. They are not offering a Cash Back Preferred World Elite MasterCard with the following highlights:

$99 annual fee
No annual fee for supplementary cardholders
Earn 1.5% cash back on all purchases

[DISCONTINUED] RBC Esso Visa Card

Is it just me or does it feel like more credit cards are being shut down than introduced to the market? It started with Petro-Canada, now it is Esso’s turn. Seems like gas loyalty programs are having difficulty maintaining their partnerships with credit card companies. You will noticed that the RBC Esso Visa Card has already been taken down from the RBC website. On the Esso website, they still show the card, but mention that new applications are no longer accepted.

Comparing Canada, Hong Kong and USA Cathay Pacific Credit Cards

Thank you Bob for today’s post idea suggestion. Note that I am always open to suggestions on credit card comparison posts as I have a lot of fun writing them, especially when I am comparing cards from different countries.

Cathay Pacific has a long list of co-branded credit card, but I selected 4 from the entire pack to compare. As we are a Canadian-centric blog, I started with the Canadian version. I generally like to compared to the United States, seeing as we are such close neighbours and they offer the most competitive cards in the world, which I like to see how Canada matches up against the best. Lastly, I think that it is most fitting to compared with the Hong Kong co-branded cards, as Cathay Pacific is based out of ther

Comparing Canada, British and USA Executive Club Credit Cards

If you have been following my series, I have mostly been comparing similar Canada versus US based credit cards. Today, I think that it will be fun to add a third country in the mix. I will be writing about the British Airways, Executive Club co-branded credit cards. Below are the 4 credit cards that we will be comparing. Also, it is only fitting as the Canadian and US cards are offering a higher than normal sign up bonus.

Ranking the Credit Card Portfolios of Each Canadian Financial Institutions (updated May 1, 2017)

It has been exactly 6 months since the last time I updated this list. The reason is because there has been very little movement until the past two months, where there were quite a few changes in the credit card industry that warrants an update to the rankings. Last year was a strong year for credit cards, so I assumed that 2017 would be a slow down year anyway. Unfortunately, most of the changes so far to the industry have been negative. Companies that moved down the list is because of a negative change. The ones that moved up is due to the downfall of the other companies.
